10/12/08 fishing report

Post by Paul »

Met PBR at cockroach bay Sunday morning

Image

I caught a nice redfish early in the day. Used a near 1/4 DOA shrimp, but with a weighted hook. Being heavier it had a nice action to it, more like using a jig. Well the redfish ruined the nose of shrimp. So I went to my top water set-up and I kept getting strikes but no hook-ups. I don't seem to catch fish on topwater :?

Image

Caught this little grouper nugget on a funky chicken, cuz I though -"redfish sure do love them" maybe "X" was wrong

Image

I caught one more small trout. Pat caught several trout and a few that were good size.

It was nice to get out fishing - sorry nothing cool to report like Terry W vs. Manta Ray......the things that people will do to get attention

You can't have too much sunscreen.....the spray on sunscreen is great for re-appling after wading

I did sail on Saturday with my brother in law - we won and we caught two spanish macs between races

Nacho Grande - the big cheese. He painted it that color.

He does not know that yellow = slow........I tried to explain it to him

The boat is a custom one off Robertson 41 - it was built in south florida, but designed in New Zealand

It has a great open transom for fishing....I have caught some big Kings trolling off sailboats.....sailboat go about right speed

Real nice boat. Are all jibs that large or is that a racer?

Its an assymetrical spinnaker, or sometimes called a Code 0, good for apparent angles 90-130 degrees.
