Replacement Lift Handles
Replacement Lift Handles
Both front and rear lift handles on my Malibu MiniX have broken from weathering. They are black braided strap material. Anyone know if I can get new ones from Malibu or do I need to build some from scratch out of leather or strap material?

Re: Replacement Lift Handles
That site sells stuff for kayaks? Never knew that. Why didn't they name it kayak gear if they sell stuff for kayaks?

The better option is to get hold of Paul at Masthead.

Re: Replacement Lift Handles
Thanks to all of you Paddle Fishers.
I will check out all of the accessory sources you mentioned.
I realize now that hooking my anchor rope loop to the front handle put undo strain on it so I am going to install a cleat next to the front handle just for the SS anchor rope loop.
The rear handle did not experience any anchor rope strain but it finally broke when a hurky marine type younger fellow lifted the kayak into my truck with one hand.

You're absolutely right, Rik, and I'm embarrassed that Paul wasn't my immediate response. Great prices, outstanding service, and a good guy to boot.Rik wrote:The better option is to get hold of Paul at Masthead.

Re: Replacement Lift Handles
Sorry I did not report back sooner.
Yes, Paul at Masthead found some exact replacement handles for my Malibu MiniX.
And, I installed them without any problem. Had to use some large stainless washers to strengthen the plastic area around the existing holes.
Thanks to Paul at Masthead and all of you tipsters.
