A change of venue

My plan was to fly fish reds today with guide to the stars Steve Gibson but he said he had a "hunch". Now, he's a better fisherman than I am so I didn't second guess him. So the newly tied whiskey flies were tucked away in the fly box and out came the jigging gear.
Before long we were on fish. But maybe not the targeted species.
A bit more fishing and things began to change. Spots turned to stripes and snook began to find our 4" offerings more than they could stand.
Steve with a fish just a half inch shy of the magical 40" mark. She fought terribly hard and it took Steve half an hour to revive her but swim away she did. Bravo Steve.
I got a subtle thump in my jig and the line began to peel. And peel. And peel. While she never tried to jump she gave me 10 minutes of heart stopping runs and finally my best of a lifetime snook succumbed.
42". She swam away just fine.
We caught a dozen snook including Steve adding a 36 incher to the above big girls. He wasn't finished though. Add tarpon to hois redfish snook and gar and he had a helluva day!
Tried as he did he couldn't find a bass to complete his Super Slam but boy he tried.
Epic is a word often misused. If it were to describe today me thinks it would be appropriate.
