Fishing DAys Suspended, Health

Post by krash »

Hi all,
Some may wonder where my post have been, some may know.

Was feeling bad, los of appetite, loosing weight, fevers at night.. went to the Dr. they did all kinds of blood test ut no source found. Was feeling worse Dr said go to ER so I did.

On Sept 4th I walked into the ER, was swarmed by Dr's and admitted for further testing. A week later was diagnosd by infectuous disease Dr. as having some sort of bacteria entered my blood stream and caused an infection. Some superbug that then attackd my heart valves.
Was decided I needed to have the valves replaced, but first had to kill off the infection and bacteria.
While in the hospital treating the above with some serious meds, i developed loss on breath issue.. one night blacked out, recovered, then it happened again but this time it was over. Last thing I remember was hearing the hospital call "rescue on 5th floor" over the pa system.
2.5 days later I wake up in a different hospital it was Sept 10th, Dr Cortelli says hi i just finish installing the valves and everything went well. I had no idea what happened over the 2.5 days, but was filled in later. When I lost my breath and blacked out the valves had discentagrated, lungs fill with fluid, and heart stopped. I was strapped to a backboard and breathing machine and heart machine attached to keep me alive. A little over a day of trying to stabilize my body, they transported me to another hospital and truned me over to the heart surgeon and cardiac specialist.. they completed the job of bringing me back to 2012, so a little more than a day later i woke up in recovery with the Dr. saying hi krash I just finished the valve replacement, it was a very long and hard surgery but you will be ok now.
Then I had complications, breathing problems again, a week later they installed a pacemaker, still breathing problems, tried several drugs, but decided to remove and replace the pacemaker with a different type that had another lead to hit both Ventricals.. within an our no more breathing problems.
Still have other issues, the heart is not pumping enough blood to recover to a normal life activity level. They tried more meds but cannot find a way to get more blood flow.
Well after like 40 days I have been releasd from the hospital to home.
But I now have to wear a LifeVest 24x7 , full on defribrilator, for 3 months and cann have little physical activity except walking short distances and controlled physical therapy.
The hope is that in the 3 months the heart will recover itself and my body will learn what the heart will take.
After 3 months I'll be revaluated and either loose the LifeVest or perhaps they will instll a perm. on inside my body.

Til then my fishing days are on hold.

And we thought you just didn't like us anymore.

Okay guys, Krash needs some fishing reports. He's done his share over the years, let's give him some stuff to look forward to.

Sounds like you have had a rough time. My prayers are with you.

I'll pass along a few things Jay Brewington told me when I found myself in the hospital.

1. Listen to you Doctors and health care professionals and do what they tell you. They know what they are doing.

2. Don't try to do it on your own. Your family and friends want to help you, let them.

3. Your goal is to get well. Stay focused on that goal and always keep moving toward it. Attitude is everything.

4. Don't allow any negatives to creep in. Depression will kill you (see #3).

Those aren't his exact words but its close. It meant a lot to me when I needed it the most.

Yes he infectuous disease Dr. id'd it pretty quickly by growing a culture.. fortunately that led him to the heart valves and the Cardiac Dr. and sureon were able to fix through the open heart surgery and replacing the valves.

They can't and did not fin the source of bacteria or how it entered my body. Suspisous areas are a bad tooth or perhaps a small cut on the skin and a waterborne/mudborne bateria carrying ... from the shoreline water's us wading paddlers wander in.

My first reaction to something this serious is to make fun or make a joke but frankly I am at a loss. Don't know you but I will send out a prayer (not that the old man listens to me these days ...been praying for the lottery for years so I know he isnt listening) just in case he has a ear out for me these days. Hope you get better.

Sorry to hear you have been visited by the Crap Fairy. I hope you have the best recovery possible. I always tell people on their birth day "Congrats on another successful trip around the sun" It seems the older we get the harder it is.

I myself am just now getting ready to return to the water after a 6 year battle with a rare illness. Been shopping for kayaks, bought a fancy new reel (Quantum Exo) and I will be renewing my fishing license soon. Be positive is my best advise. That alone will do your body wonders.

Krash - God bless you and have him carry you to a good recovery.

I thought of calling you last week as I was going to Miami and would fish for peacocks.
But could only get Sat and Sun, not enough time for a peacock trip to Broward.

I caught a few peacocks in West Kendall at a lake where they are thickest. But, felt like they were beginning to shut down for the fall season. I was surprised not to see any peacock young ones. i usually see schools of them in the 5 to 7" size. Tried your Rapala type plugs with no takers.

Get really well man.
