Gulp in PFCS #1

Post by Rik »

We allowed Gulp for the first event. Did anyone use it?

My guests did and to no avail. On a side note I caught all 3 bonus fish on a spoon :joker:

The big red took a Gulp 5" chartruse neon glow jerk shad (sort of a chart/white combo). A pack of 5 was $5.95 so I only had a single pack but I wish I had had more. I couldn't keep the fish away from that bait. The pin fish would peck at it constantly so it had to be worked rather rapidly although the red hit it before it ever reached the bottom. Right time/right place thing I suppose. I caught lots of trout with that bait as well. Even with only 1/3 of the bait left on the jig, it still produced.

I fed a couple 4" Chartrues Pepper Ripple Mullet to the pin fish and put back on a Mirrolure soft plastic. ( I just grabbed the package out of my kayak to get the description and now my hands smell like I was handling something else. :( )
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

I had a new penny shrimp. i caught nothing on it.

I rigged it weedless and worked it like a jig I even left it out - like dead bait sitting on the bottom while working the other lures

i guess they work.....but i had no luck with them
