My new favorite for line to leader connection. Works on the principle of Chinese finger cuffs. In this case, it is uniting 30# braid with 80# leader. Slick as snot.
Yeah, I know it looks like a big fish will pull the leader right out of the wraps, but more tension actually makes the wraps bite deeper into the leader.
Here is a pretty good tutorial from a local boy:
I do make one modification which I think is an improvement. Instead of the half-hitches at the end, I add a 4 wrap lock like the one which is used on the Bimini Twist.
I have had a few decent sharks try to pull this knot apart to no avail. The real test will be a giant Poon...

Re: GT Knot
I just tied it with 10lb braid to 20lb leader, it looks great! I'm going to give it a try tomorrow and see. I've been using the albright for years now but if this works I just may have a new knot.
Thanks for sharing it!!!

Re: GT Knot
This is the knot I have been using for years except it is tied a bit differently. This way of tying is probally more ....errr...accurate but the other way is easier if you are out on the water in a moving boat. Just don't know the name of the other knot. Excellent knot though and I will be trying this one next time I put a leader on.

Very nice. Will give it a try. Been using the slim beauty for a few years now and love that one, but this one looks even better.

X2. I like the Slim Beauty, but it's tough to tie in low light - getting the braid through the double overhand can be... interesting.MarkM wrote: Been using the slim beauty for a few years now and love that one, but this one looks even better.
I'll start practicing now so I'll have a new knot when I can paddle again.

I posted a thread about this last year. Here is another instruction video. This one is slightly different, but gets you to the same place.

Ok. My tarpon rods are tied up with it. Stood up to an oak tree. Let's see what the tarpon have to say about it tomorrow.

Re: GT Knot
So far so good for me. None of those feisty little pin fish have pulled that leader lose yet. Have not had the opportunity to let the tarpon test it.

Re: GT Knot
Great knot, it will be on all my rigs, especially the Poon rigs. I've always favoured longer leaders and put up with the knot whistling through the guides, but this knot is much better.
I have used the slim beauty on my tarpon gear, but will change out to this.
