Hello everybody,
Just wanted to introduce myself, I'm Thomas. I've been Kayak fishing for about two years, but last Thursday I ran into a lady down at Cockroach Bay who was really friendly, and after we struck up a conversation, she pointed me to this forum. I grew up fishing Cockroach Bay, Bishops Harbor and the Little Manatee River, and I take great pride in being a true Floridian. I've never seen snow if that gives you any idea....well, except that one little dusting in 87 when I was 4.
Hopefully in the not too distant future, I'll be getting a new kayak, because the 14' Old Town Dirigo I'm currently paddling is getting tiresome to fish from, although it is fast and tracks beautifully.
Looking forward to talking to some new people, but one quick question...I took a look at a kayaking forum about a year ago, and discovered that keeping legal fish to eat / using live bait was sneered at. I use artificials every time I go out cover more water, but a shrimp or greenback free lined into the mangroves is a ton of fun. In my experience, much like fly fishing for trout in North Carolina, finding the fish (and good presentation) is the trick. As long as what's on the end of your line is presented well, it'll probably be eaten. What are the general feelings on these two things on this forum?
Tight lines
