My Annual Christmas Poem

Post by JSnooky »

'Twas the night before Christmas and all 'bout the bay
Not a game fish was stirring, in potholes they lay.

The kayaks were stored on roof tops and racks
and fishing rods carefully rested in stacks.

The paddlers were nestled all snug in their beds
While visions of fishing gear danced in their heads.

And Rik in his waders and Todd in his crocs
Had just settled down keeping eye on the flock.

When out on the water stirred such a commotion
They sprang from their chairs to look out at the ocean.

Away to the boat launch they flew in a flash
gunning through toll booths because they'd forgot cash.

The moon on the crest of each big tailers wake
gave an adrenaline rush that made their legs quake.

When what to their wondering eyes should appear
but a monsterous school of Bull Redfish so clear.

With jerkbaits and spoons, they cast to the masses
watching intently through their polarized glasses.

More massive then Oprah, the big bronze Bulls came
Rick whistled, Todd Shouted, and called out by name.

Hey Johnster!Hey DaveR!Hey RayDawg!Hey Mother!
Hey Buc and Terp and Tommy Our Brothers!

Yo' BigT and MikeI and JSnooky you fool!
Get out here and hurry, we're on top of a school.

With canoes and kayaks they paddled from shore
each man with visions of huge Redfish to score.

And as they arrived to their wonderous surprise
they were greeted by bruisers of gargantuan size.

With Shimano and Daiwa, Okuma and Penn
each cast out his offering and watched his rod bend.

And raining down on to the school of big guys
were soft baits and lures and even some flies.

As each rod bowed up with the weight of a fish
these men had all realized their one Christmas wish.

To spend time with friends doing what they loved most
Each raised his beverage and offered a toast.

When the chaos had ended and we all paddled for shore
not one man was bragging or keeping the score.

Then each in true friendship gave handshakes and smiles
got back in their autos of various styles.

Each somber drive home was shone with good visions
of many years past filled with good friends and fishing.

So if you are reading this poem I have written
remember your friends and don't ever be smitten.

This website has grown and created true friends
so be thankful and gracious and on each other depend.

And yes I exclaim that I know this is right,
Merry Christmas You All and To All A Good Night!!

Great job and Merry Christmas.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
