Perfect Day 12/09

Post by DouGR81 »

I bet you guys are sick of my reports by now, but today was one of the best days I've ever had on the water. The wind was calm, the air was cool, and the fish were big. Almost forgot we were halfway into December. Trout and redfish were on the flats in the morning and then joined the snook in the mangroves as the tide came up in the early afternoon. DOA CAL shadtails and Rapala Skitterwalks did the trick.

Nope, not at all. I'll let you know when I am. Until then, keep 'em coming.

Anytime you want to take a directionally challenged, doesn't know how to read a chart, constantly mixes up right/left, up/down, North/South. East/West, has a memory that ceased working some years back and hates pictures with backgrounds in them (when or if he can actually find his camera) guy out fishing for those small tarpon, give me a shout. I know just the guy.

Damnnnn nice fish brother! That trout was a beast and so was the snook!!!! You found a honey spot for sure today! I love those DOA Shad Tails! I have great luck with the darker colors and the chart tails. What color did you use?? I haven't tries the Skitter walk yet. The trout looked like a 30 incher too?? I'd say the heart was racing for sure today huh!

I was the using the Silver Mullet (#407) shadtail. It's one of my favorite colors for big winter trout.

The trout in the pic was 24"... long but skinny. A few casts later I got a 23" trout that must've had a stomach full of mullet. Check out the girth..probably weighed two pounds more than the 24" trout

Very nice. That is one of the nicest trout I have seen in quite a while and the snook aint to shabby either.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
