Kayak Lights

Post by CooKnFish »

The more you can do to make yourself visible in a kayak at night, the better. A simple 360º light gets lost easily when surrounded by dock lights.

I found some LED lights that really stand out and are made especially for marine use. I opted for the traditional Navigation light kit. At $35, it is a bargain compared to a single white light on a pole.

Installation was pretty easy and straight forward. The biggest problem I had was installing the stern lights because I do not have a rear access hatch and the leads, albeit a generous 5', were about 8" short of the cockpit access hatch. I used a double throw switch so that I could turn on just the stern or all.

Paddles - they aren't just for the bedroom anymore.

You should start a "Pimp My Kayak" show. Can my Commander be episode 1?

Wow! Apparently the company has made some changes since I made my purchase. The website has changed and now you have to buy through a dealer. I purchased directly from Wildcat Lighting months ago. (I finally made the decision to rig this boat)

I did find them for $57 at ACK.

Todd, you will have to be episode 2. I have a Native Propel I have to pimp first. I got the same setup for Sharon.
