I may be moving to the Pembroke Pines area. What is the best/closest kayak fishing to this location? Anything within a short driving distance? Thanks!

Will you be living on a canal or lake ?

I am more interested in saltwater fishing. My thought is that Chokoloskee and Flamingo are close. Maybe Key Largo as well. I believe I have seen some posters mention Biscayne Bay as well. Any thoughts here?

ICW kind of sucks in that area for fishing because of the current and boat traffic, there are tarpon to be caught there though especially at night launch at the ramps off Polk St. Hollywoods West Lake is a nice place to paddle Ok launch site at the ramps on Johnson St. and holds small Snook. you can also launch at J. Lloyd in Whiskey Creeek or at the boat ramp and paddle across to the west side of the ICW the canal that leads to/from the FPL plant is a popular Tarpon spot, but you can't get up any where near the power plant.

Choko is a great choice, just at 1hr 45 minutes drive, from I75 & Pines Blvd., Mingo is just over 2 hours, Key Largo, Garden Cove, is about 1hr 15 minutes. All good places to fish.. Choko is a good choice for kayakr's lots of fish, good variety within a short paddle.

I love choko. Car camping and kayak fishing. I see a lot of those trips in my future. Just not when the skeeters are at their peak.
