Do you use a leader with your lure?
I never use a leader but my brother in law does and he swears by it. Just want to know if im doing something wrong? If you do use a leader post what type: mono or floro and what lb test and for what fish you are targeting.

Water clarity is another variable in the leader equation

10 or 15 pound braid as my main line, so yes I use a leader.. uni to uni knot, to 15/20 pound fluro leader depending on the targeted species.. if water is not gin clear and/or topwater I use Ande pink for 20+ leaders.

Invisible in the water is the main thing, but it also helps quite a bit when a larger fish decides to engulf the lure and the bare line is left to take the punishment of the snanpaper or toothy mouth of the fish.
I vote YES! 15 lb flouro starting off with around 5 feet.

Absolutely, about 36" of 20# fluoro works fine on inshore slam. Been considering going to 15# for trout. No need for hardware, uni to uni & a loop knot wiil get the job done.
let's try over there

Light rod (St Croix SC5/6), light reel (Shimano Sustain 3000), light line (8-10# braid) and light leader (15# flourocarbon). Nothing is more fun than giving up as much advantage as possible AND I can cast all day without wearing myself out.

ALWAYS use leader... Fluoro. Invisible. 30# for inshore... 65# for near shore Kings and Tarpon.
15# PP with Albright Special knot. ...it never fails.
