Kayak storage question

Post by overtheedge86 »

I just purchased my first new LHB and really want to take better care of it than my old craigslist special. I'm rigging up a hoist to hang my LHB from a truss in my carport. The LHB will be supported by two slings and raised/lowered with a pulley system. Should the LHB sit in the slings right side up or upside down? Thanks for any help, and i plan on posting a guide with pics for the other DIYers.

I hang mine upside down. Don't know that it makes that much difference.

I store mine upside down. It dries faster (the seat can hang-dry without removing it) and it stays cleaner.

Upside down
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

thanks for the replies, i see what im doing wrong. I tried using a simple 2 pulley design but could not lift the boat for the life of me, i guess the extra the extra pulleys help with lifting.

I have one hanging from the 10' ceiling in the garage with a hoist system, one on top of a "rolling rack" and one laying on it's side"in" the rolling rack.
I plan on buying a Kayak rack that goes against a wall & holds two boats on their side. I picked up a "Fender Rack" from Harbor Freight for washing and working on the boats.
