Where else would you live?

Post by shamus »

Camillle & I moved here 5 1/2 years ago. We always said in 5 + years we'd say where do you want to go next? Since everyone here comes from somewhere else. Where is the next great place to live. I'm not saying I'm leaving , Florida has so much to offer. It's just what we do every 5 years. A non snow area please.

If I could move, it would be to the Keys!

Pensacola. I was raised there. Still has that small town feel and lots of beautiful water. Plus 30" trout.
I think I can dance.

We tried Denver a few years ago, didn't think we would miss Fla. but were sadly mistaken. Been here since 74 don't want to live anywhere else.
Watching the years go by like weekends out of the corner of my eye.

Great places are a matter of opinion, and you know how opinions are.
IMO - you will not know how great a place is till ya live there a few years.
If your into fishing, diving, good weather, etc. - you already live in the fishing capital of the world...
Good Luck..

Nokomis, FL.

Small town, nice people and very close to a fishing jetty.
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

Damascus, Virginia.

Three rivers dumped into one. Great bike trails, right on the Appalacian Trail, within a two day hike of the highest point in Virginia, Mt Rogers. I used to go there the week of Thanksgiving and do Century hikes (100 miles) I would catch a hundred pounds of Striper in Virginia Beach, clean them, and take them over to Damascus. The lady that owned the Dairy King would fry them up and half the town would show up for fresh fish.
Yopu can stay in the Mt Rogers Outfitters Hostel for $10 a night. I would stay there the night before a weeklong trek.

I love that place.

I'm lucky in that I always like wherever I am.....if it's either along the coast or on a lake.

There are several places I'd like to live in, but just for one year each: Vancouver Island or Sitka/Alaska, coastal downeast Maine. Love to experience the very different seasons from Florida's.

Permanently? Green Turtle Cay in the Abaco, Bahamas or Anna Maria Island. Coastal for certain!

I finally found Cow Creek. It's at the end of the Road to Nowhere!

Always heard great things about Wilmington. It's on my short list of places to consider.

Also, if you can handle the fruity people and high cost of living, San Diego is hard to beat. Walk the beach in the morning and snow capped mountains in the afternoon.

So where else *have* you live while on this journey?

Take I-275 North and settle in St. Pete. That's where all the old folks move to!

Other than dealing with Florida's shitty pay scale I love it here.
