Bahamas Trip (pic intense)

Post by skinnywater »

My lovely bride and I went over to Atlantis for our honeymoon. All I can say is WOW, what a beautiful place. We did get to go fishing, which I will get to later in the report.
The resort was incredible, lots to do when the weather wouldn't let you fish, which was most of the week.

The bridge like object near the top is actually a suite. For a mere $25k per night, four night min, it can be yours!
Due to it being the slow season, we were given a ocean view room on the top floor. The room we were supposed to have was in one of the resorts other hotels, which was undergoing rehab.

There are several aquariums on the property, from outdoor pools to walk thru tunnels.

For the photographers here, there was no shortage in subjects. We had well over 1500 pics.

Lots of oportunities for night pics as well.

When the weather finally cooperated on saturday, out we went. I had origionally wanted to chase the bonefish, but no such luck on Paradise Island.

All in all, a nice week, but we were both ready to get back home. That place brings a new meaning to expen$ive

Atlantis is a great place. Did you get the opportunity to take the tour of the time shares? Last time I was there, they paid $100 cash to take the tour, and I quickly gave it back in the Casino.
Can I retire yet?

Looks like you and the bride had a great honeymoon! I was at Atlantis in September of 1999 and ended up getting a free room. Only problem was I had to share it with 1200 people. Here is a picture from my trip:

Yep, and its up to $125  . They are really pushing those timeshares, anytime we went in or out of the lobbies, we had to dodge the people in the orange jackets. In hindsight, we should have split up, and each taken a tour, coulda made an extra buck and a quarter.Since I don't like to give away money, mine went to the dolphin swim.

Hatch, that really stinks. Did they give you any food there, or were you charged like the rest of the guests?

They gave us free food, but stopped serving any alcohol. When the storm ended, we got moved to a new, better, free room for one night.

As soon as they let us outside, my friend, her nephew and I went walking on the grounds to view the damage. There were berms of debris washed up along the shore and I said "Austin, keep your eyes open, you might find a message in a bottle." He walked several steps, picked up a bottle and turned toward us. Inside it was a dated message written 12 years earlier with 2 names encircled by a heart. Unfortunately, they did not say where they were from. We added our own note about being there during Hurricane Floyd and returned it to the sea. The weather may have been bad, but the memories are very good.
