my story from the weekend

Post by rev »

One bone and one broken fly rod about sums it up. I had two shots at permit that were on the money, but permit are permit and they just don't eat flies well. Each trip down south I pay my dues and the permit on fly will happen at some point.

I'm sensing a pattern here.....
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

It's plain that permit just don't like that hat.
Nice bone.

Thanks for calling Rev.

Quit whining. A bone on fly is a pretty good weekend in most people's book.

Were you fishing the area we found bones the last time you were down?

Nah brother. This was down in Big Pine, fishing with a guide. Didn't even bring a kayak down.

Phinla, I may be ready for the 8'6" rod. Ceiling fan--doh! I'd already done that one. I've broken so many rods I'm starting to repeat how it happens.

Nice bone Chris! I'll have to tear myself away from the Glades one of these days and try my hand at that.

Ok Rev, you're off the hook (so to speak).

Careful with those rod tips.

Well, at least I am not the ONLY ONE having trouble catching a permit

Anyway, sorry about the broken fly rod but again, impressive catch. I still think those bonefish are MUCH bigger in Biscayne Bay

Vivian, I totally agree. The fish I've hooked & caught further east and north have all been pigs, while the two bones I've caught from the lower Keys have each been 5-6 lbers. I've seen big fish around Big Pine but it seems the medium-sized fish are much more common. Even so, the smaller bones still scream. That little guy got WAY into my backing.
