You know you have a good friend when.....

You blow up his expensive fly rod that you borrowed and he says "no sweat, I have another one for you" and your fishing buddy sees the trouble you are having and stays with you rather than thowing at happy tarpon that are surrounding us.
Thanks Steve and Rik. You guys are the best. I'm indeed a luck man.
I got a big monkey off my back this morning. I dedicated this season to getting a tarpon on the fly and after a hundred casts into fish I was rewarded. 3 casts resulted in 3 hook ups with the last one being landed this morning. It was magical.

Guessing about 60 pounds P13. Good thing. The rod blew 5-10 minutes into the fight and the fish was still pretty green. I thought I might be able to land it. Had it been a big girl I would have had to break it off.

uh-oh, don't tell me the repo man from OK has been round to visit!

I'm sure he was using the 120 for its Mojo Bill!

Nice work, Homey! You stuck it out and were finally rewarded. Hope there's more of those in your future. (I'm ready for one myself!) :D

Islander.
I have been throwing a black/purple EP fiber thing for 2 weeks with no takes. I switched out this morning to a cock a roach and that's what they wanted.

How Rik didn't get a fish out of this school is beyond me. He did everything right a dozen times. You livin good enough Rik?

Oh, and the boat. I found that with fly fishing from the yak for tarpon maneuverability was more important than speed/glide. I borrowed a T160 yesterday and while it is a fine craft it lacks what is needed to get into position quickly and quietly.
My T120 transports easy and maneuvers quickly. Any chop and I'll get wet but that's a given if you get a fish to the boat anyway.
Besides, maybe they will put me in a catalog or something.

Nice job!! Sucks about the rod, but at least you finished up on a high note for the day.

Thought about getting out this morning, but the wife had other plans for me.

Still waiting for that PM Dave..... :)
