Well, from what i hear rod building could be an art to get into if you are an avid fisherman. I'm pretty new to the whole subject and i thought maybe i could give it a shot one of these days. So, what do i need to make my first rod and are there any tips or any pro or cons to building a rod?

I would start of with a kit (blank, guides, handles, epoxy, finish, etc). I was start off with an inexpensive kit from Mudhole.

As far as equipment, you can basically build your own wrapper stand or make one out of a box. Just put a V-notch on it. For the thread tensioner, get a fly bobbin.

Good luck and happy wrapping.....
