rod building club

Post by Keith »

Eric said,
Once we get through this hurricane, I will put up a post to see how much interest there is in putting together a rod building group/club. Really doesnt need to be big, but we could get together once in a while to work on a project and compare notes.

So who all would be interested in this? Please list when would be a good time, place, and some ideas for an agenda?

Keith-I can't host it but I'll be glad to help out as best as I can.
Time- Any weekday evening is good for me
Where- Anywhere near or in St Pete ?????
Agenda- (1) Technique (show and tell) (2) Way to save money on purchasing materials.
Think like a fish!

Well......once we get through Ivan........

Till then, how many would be interested and where do you live? How often do you think? And what night of the week.

I live in Westchase in Tampa.
Every two or three months.
Either Tues or Thurs.

Let's find out where everyone resides and then pick a place that's a midway point for most folks. I am in Sarasota.

Small group is good but too spread out.....noles I was kind of thinking if there were at least 4 in each area....then we could hold one SOTE and one NOTE. Still waiting to see if some others decide they want to join in.

I would be interested. I live in Indian Rocks Beach area but would be willing to travel some. Any night would be OK with enough notice.

I've got a microwave oven motor and live SOTE. Count me in with Noles and Shamus for the SOTE club. I can't wait to see this hunk of crap microwave turned into a rod drying machine!

I may be interested in getting together.

Probably evry 3 months or so. Otherwise, you could have a garage full of rods. Is that a bad thing?

Anywho. I am out in Riverview.

I am out of this for now.....no way I can put something else into the schedule for the remainder of this year. I may have an interest in '05.

I got into this 2 months late, but if there's interest again in 05, I can make it any night during the week. For now I live in Redington Shores, but may be making a move between now and then.

Hey Bill! Glad to see you on P-F! Met-up with the fellow former 'redleg' you PM'd at the tourney yesterday. Told him I knew you, and that you were an OK guy. Glad to fish with you anytime. Lee.

Hi Guys - we talkin' spinning rods or all rods. Novice or expert? I have made a dozen or so, mainly grouper sticks and kingfish rods, but looking to share what little I know...

I'm up in New Port Richey and have absolutely no experience with rod building, other than replacing a guide here and there. I'd love to learn.

Novice to beginner.....fly to spin....inshore to offshore. Whatever. But still not in a position to get this off the ground yet...someone else feel free to take the reigns, think it is a great idea.
