Catching it and getting it alongside for the beauty shot (if you can call a pic of Shamus a beauty shot) is not the end of the story. Tarpon ALWAYS need to be revived. If you don't, they'll sink to the bottom and become crab food. There is absolutely no reason to kill the fish by not reviving it. If you're killing them, please stop fishing for them. Please.
All of us have a tow line on the bow of our kayaks. Once a guy gets the tarpon alongside, removes the hook and gets the beauty shots then it is tow time. Another guy grabs the tow line and starts paddling.
Shamus' first fish this morning took quite a bit of paddling. I got the easy job.

Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! My old man was pushing PROPER catch and release back in the day when you'd see a dozen huge tarpon hung on a lodgepole by "sportsmen". YOU, sir, are a SPORTSMAN.
