Launched on the west side of Sarasota Bay to perfect conditions about 45 minutes before dawn. There were mullet and bait everywhere, but nothing was biting. I spooked what I assumed was a good size snook off the sandbar I was wading, but that was about it. Finally after an hour of wading and casting I caught this nice little snook.
The next couple hours all I managed to find were a couple rather small trout and a lady fish. I had not caught a red fish in what seems like a very long time so I started working a flat that has been productive for me in the past. The tide was still coming in there were lots of mullet. I worked the flat for almost an hour before I finally hooked up. Felt so good to hear that line screaming off my reel. The fish had some serious shoulders and put up a great fight. It measures at about 29 inches and was very healthy and fat. I invited her aboard for a few beauty shots and then she was on her way.

Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
