Well another cold a foggy morning greeted us this past Sunday. With the time change my friend Greg aka BigFlyReel and I got on the water just a tad early and milled around waiting for the first glimpse of sun light before hitting the area we intended to fish. Instead we got socked in with fog, which turned out to be a blessing. The low tide and low visibility made for some great "mudding" redfish. The first one I saw I almost didn't cast too, but once I saw the back come out of the water I made a cast. Right out in front of what turned out to be several fish, I made the "move". The "move" is just a small twitch of the jerk bait or jig, I just try to imitate the bait crawling or trying to burrow into the mud. Most of the time I give them the "move" I'm rewarded with a hard tug on the end of the line. Not this time. These fish took off like they were shot out of a cannon. All except one. I never knew he was hooked. I reeled in to make another cast and the line went tight and the fight was on. You gotta love this cold water, I love the way redfish fight when its like this.

Greg was up next, but he wasn't as fortunate. These fish were extremely spooky. We both had multiple shots at mudders, only to be denied. Seems they didn't care too much for the "move". As soon as the sun came out, the bite died down. We saw fish, but they weren't feeding at all. Anyway, it was a good morning.

Looks like a nice morning on the river.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

That gin clear water and low winds has really mixed things up for me this year. Sounds like you boys hit the similar conditions.
I've really enjoyed how it changes the game - definitely more challenging and more of a hunt than a fish.
Hoping to round up some kayakers to hit poon off AMI this year. Should prove equally challenging but at the next level.
