Ok I am looking at upgrading two of my rods. My Topwater & Soft Plastic. I only have a budget of $100-$120 per rod. I have never used any of these rods. I am leaning towards the St.Croix. I know you get what you pay for but,
with the budget I have I just want to get the best for my buck.
The rods I am looking at are....
Topwater:
St.Croix Mojo Bass 6'8" MXF Lure Rate 3/16-5/8
Shimano Compre 6'8" MXF Lure Rate 1/8-3/8
Abu Garcia Veritas 6'6" MXF Lure Rate 1/8-1/2
Soft Plastics:
St.Croix Mojo Bass 7' MF Lure Rate 3/16-5/8
St.Croix Premier 7' MF Lure Rate 1/4-5/8
Shimano Compre 7'2" MF Lure Rate 1/8-3/8
Abu Garcia Veritas 7' MF Lure Rate 1/8-1/2

Re: Rod Advice??
For top water the best rod I have used so far is this one: Stellar Lite SG816ISM. It is a bit heavy for light jigs but for my top water it has been perfect. I have caught big fish and had no worries about it's backbone.

Re: Rod Advice??
I recently got that same mojo(wacky style) for topwatering and its sweet. Notice the Compre isn't rated for spookjr?

Re: Rod Advice??
I have had the St. Croix Mojo Inshore for a couple months now and love it. Mine is 7' MF. The split grip felt a little odd at first, but on I am very comfortable with it. Not sure what the differences are between the Mojo Bass and Inshore models are. May we worth looking into that.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
