It ended up being a nature trip

Post by Rik »

I've been battling pneumonia for the past month or so which has kept my kayak strapped to the rafter of my garage. Today was the first time out in over a month. Had hoped to have some fish pull on my line but it wasn't happening for anyone on the river this morning.

Smoke on the water

Mr. Gator showed up

And wasn't too happy when I got too close

After the sun rose high enough, the smoke burned off and it was a beautiful day

All shot with a $60 point and shoot and no photoshop tinkering. No apologies for lack of quality.

I ended up hooked to a gator. Bouncing a jig and it got stuck to a log or so I thought. Paddled up to the other side of it to get unstuck but then the log moved. It let me tug on it for 10 or so minutes until the hook straightened out when I went to pop the line.

Nice pics, especially the one with the long-liner in it...

Catching no fish is better than not getting out at all. I know a few people who are sick right now and I hope I don't catch the germs.

By the way, nice pics.

Not a small gator from what I can tell. Glad you are feeling better!

No it was not small. If it is the same one I hooked, I could barely move it with 10 lb line.

And thanks, Wuluf. It's definitely nice to feel better!
