New Year's Day at Cockroach Bay

Post by rugrat181 »

I had the pleasure of meeting Norm at CRB launch today. He was just coming in as I was getting started. I recognized him from the "Norm" on his shirt.
Heading out the channel to cast for trout there was way too much boat traffic. I moved onto the North flat where I connected with my 1st red caught by myself on a spook.(have caught a few with a guide) It was way exciting !! I actually heard myself asking that fish to please stay hooked as I worked him to the kayak. AT 22 inches, he would be lunch. I celebrated with a cigar then made my way back to the channel where a little flounder (another 1st for me here) and a baby trout made up the closest thing to a slam I've landed.
Great start to the new year.Only hope it is a sign of things to come Image

btw, Much thanks to Rik for the instructions for posting pics.

Happy New Year all. See you at Ft. Desoto.
It's 5 o'clock somewhere. Let's celebrate !!

Good stuff Dave. Lot of fun on a topwater too!
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley
