He won't ring his own bell so I'll do it for him

Post by Rik »

We've got a guy on this forum that, 2 years ago, was a party hearty, bacon is a daily vitamin, 'big boned' guy. In that short two years - undoubtedly shorter for the rest of us then it was for him - he's turned himself into a stud AND he turned 50. He's now a tough mudding kind of stud. Hell, he's even managed to thin down those bones quite a bit!

He and his daughter (I know her as Eva) just completed the Tough Mudder competition in Tampa last weekend. For those who have never heard of Tough Mudder, here's a vid to give you some idea what it's like.

Tough Mudder events are hardcore 10-12 mile obstacle courses designed by British Special Forces to test your all around strength, stamina, mental grit, and camaraderie. With the most innovative courses, half a million inspiring participants, and more than $2 million dollars raised for the Wounded Warrior Project, Tough Mudder is the premier adventure challenge series in the world.

That guy is my friend and good buddy DaveR. Congrats Dave. That was quite an accomplishment. Proud of you and please don't kick my ass!

Congratulation Dave. You are an inspiration to us all.

That is something to accomplish. I was in Publix the other day and two people walked by wearing tough mudder t-shirts. By the way they were walking, it looked like they just did a few rounds with a rodeo bull.

Great job.

Thanks for the kind words folks. It was a great day and a culmination of a lot of training. The spirit of teamwork among all the participants was indeed inspirational. The best part was finishing with my newlywed daughter Nicole. A very special day indeed. Would I do it again? Yup, tomorrow! Already signed up for next year!
