SRQ report part 1

Post by shallow pockets »

Had a fellow co-worker and friend out on Sat afternoon fishing in 20mph winds. I had a new bait to try called the Bomber Who Dat Rattling spoon. On Brian's second cast he he hooked up with with a nice 26 3/4 Redfish. Brian caught his personal best and released a few more Reds and Trout before the sun went down.

Great job. Where did you get the Bomber Who Dat Rattling spoon and what do they call the color that you were throwing? When retrieving to you reel fast or slow?
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

There are no limits, except for the ones we put on ourselves.

Were you using the Rattling Spoon or the Rattling Spinner Spoon?

Pay attention to the weight on those lures. At 7/8 oz, they will be at or over the top end of the weight rating for most inshore rods.
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

I am using the spinner spoon. I got them through http://www.anglersystems.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; . They are heavy.

The 'heavy' wasn't a slam. Just pointed it out so that if someone gets one, they use the appropriate rod for the lure weight.

I bought a Who Dat last week but haven't had a chance to use it yet. What depth would you estimate it runs at with a constant medium retrieve?

1 to 2 feet depending on your speed. Its great for low water.Very weedless! Most of the hits were when we were retrieving the spoon very fast, maybe 6" under the surface.
