Fishermen's Church this morning

Post by Rik »

With thanks to some very special folks - your know who you are! - I got back out on the tarpon waters this morning to christen a new rod and reel. Having given my last one to Neptune, my prayers were rewarded with a nice fish.

Here we go

Nice 50 - 60 pound late July tarpon

My photographer was close to getting the shot

First she gave me a bath, then Barnacle got a bath

A pleasure being out with ya again. Having Barnacle jump in after the fish certainly added another dimension to tarpon fishing. Both Shamus and I jumped some silver today too but another bust for Noles. Bait chuckin just ain't his gig.

Congrats Rik. Nice to see a report with some action in it. Oh yes... I am back.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Since I suck at bait chuckin, I've been working on my photography skills.

What did you expect! I was far away! I need to stick closer to Rik next year! Think he has the long-lining thing down.

Why you little bastard !!! I've given you several chances to get shots of flying tarpon. Everytime I ask if you got that shot all I hear you say" Oh, I thought you had a shark on"

If you had a rod leash on that first little adventure I think you may have also received a swimming lesson.
