What do you fellas like as weed guards on your flies. Mono or wire. Please be specific in your replies as to lb. test an such.

30# hard mason mono and/or regular mono is what I usually use. On smaller flies I'll go down to 20# on the "loop" method.
There are a couple of ways to tie a weed guard. One is the "Loop" method. The other two are just straight weed guards with either 1 or 2 guards. The "one" straight guard method will go straight over the hook point whereas the "two" method will splay to either side.

When tying the "loop" weed guards, that is usually what is tied on to the hook first at the bend of the hook. After the fly is finished, tie the other end of the weed guard in at the hook eye.
Oh yeah, you can also use wire but why would you want to? ha!
