Another great morning on the water with my old mate.
Once again, I was shown how it's done by the fish catcher extrodinaire that is, DaveR.
We were fishing the back country and exploring tidal creeks, and it was quite the lovely morning. Dave was putting on another clinic, 4 snook and 2 small reds to my big fat duck egg. I was beginning to believe it really has all changed!
We turned a corner and saw nervous water, Dave's cast was inch perfect and the fish bit as soon as the lure hit the water.
A dogged battle ensued, and once the Red realised he was under a boat, he really showed his worth, but to no avail.
He was quickly bested, no mean feat in a creek less than 20' wide!
Right on 30"!

Re: Up the Creek with the Leg-end!
Nice work fellas. I had some decent luck this morning in your soon-to-be new backyard, John. Someday maybe I'll show ya where.
Re: Up the Creek with the Leg-end!
A damned fine morning it was sir. Our originL plan was to break in the tarpon season today but the bay was still angry at 10pm so we went to plan b. Apparently things off the beach had calmed but the tranquility of the morning was not to be wasted. Interrupted only by the occasional upset piscavore that mistakenly thought they were the apex predator of Mishap Cove.
John was not to return to the launch with that duck egg. A cartwheeling snook put an end to that. His new boat may never know the stench of a skunk!

That's one healthy redfish . That creek almost looks like the territory up in my neck of the woods.

Nice report and video. Well done to the legend. Hope to see you soon on the beach.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.

Steve, get in touch with me for the beach fishing. I just don't think DvR has the stones for it any more. He may say he'll be at the beach, but then he won't show, and then you'll get home to see his ugly mug in a creek fishing report. I guess myself and a crusty old Irishman can't compete with the Guv'ner as good company. I only cried a little.Manning wrote:Nice report and video. Well done to the legend.
