Lake Manatee prime time (with pics)

Post by Gibby3474 »

I've been doing fairly well on Lake Manatee with a fly rod. Been averaging 60 fish per trip. They've been mostly bluegill, but we've also been catching a few bass, speckled perch, shellcracker and channel catfish. On one trip last week, I hooked eight catfish and landed two!

Nymphs and the Myakka Minnow produced well on most trips. However, on Friday popping bugs and dry flies were the ticket. Go figure.

I've been fishing out of my kayak, which allows me to fish very slowly and thoroughly.

Love the pics. Those specks sure are tasty.
