Just curious to see what people are using nowadays for kayak fishing.
I'm seeing a trend towards high-end low profile baitcasters and wondering if it was the same in the Florida kayak fishing community.
I'm still using Slammers, but they are getting old and I'm thinking of switching it up a little bit.
I think I'm going to try the Wright & McGill baitcaster on a Skeet Reese rod for a hopeful kayak musky this weekend...

Re: What Rod/Reel do you use?
I'm using abu garcia revo sx for salt & musky fishing. It has 24 lbs of drag vs 16 or 18 for most freshwater baitcasters. I love 'em, cast a mile & have many sealed bearings.

I'm trying to use my mid arbor battenkill IV on a 9' 8 weight more often.
If not that, the saros 3000 on a redbone.
I'm interested in the low pro baitcasters, specially the LH ones that eliminate the hand swap for a righties.

Re: What Rod/Reel do you use?
Casting: Shimano Curado 200E7 on a 7' Castaway Medium with Fast Taper
Spinning: Shimano Symetere 2500 on a 7' Castaway Medium with Fast Taper
I use Power pro 30# on both. When fishing topwater or suspending baits, I use a 3' 40# Flurocarbon leader
For fishing spoons and plastic on jig heads I tied directily to the lure (no leader).

Re: What Rod/Reel do you use?
I've been stubborn and out of the loop with new products...but being in the position and location I am, I am looking at different stuff and broadening my horizons...
Wright & McGill are one in the same with Eagle Claw.
I struck out on muskie today, but I'd rather catch one muskie once every 10 trips than 10 bass every one trip.
Looks like a lot of Shimano Saros users out there....I personally have never seen that reel. I am going to Icast in July so I'll look for it and new stuff there...
Keep em' coming...
