Sarasota Bay Watch - Sister Keys Clean up

Post by Rik »

Sarasota Bay Watch in cooperation with the Town of Longboat Key, the Chiles Group and Cannons Marina is seeking up to 60 volunteers for the 2nd Annual Sister Keys Clean-Up to be held on Saturday, May 8, 2010 from 8:00 am until 12:30 pm.

Participants will gather next to the Town of Longboat Key boat ramp at the corner of Linley Street and Lois Avenue at the Mar Vista.

Participants will be transported by boat to Sister Keys beginning at 8:30 am. After the Clean Up, participants (only) will be treated to lunch (from 11:30 to 12:30) courtesy of the Mar Vista Dockside Restaurant.

Please dress casually (long sleeve shirts, pants, eye protection and gloves) and wear appropriate shoes to protect your feet. Don’t forget your sun-block as we expect the sun will shine on this important event.

If I don't have to work, I'll be there.

Hey Rik, couple of questions as we get closer to the date..

Most importantly, does the free lunch include beer?

and 2nd, Do we need to bring our kayaks or are we getting shuttled on stinkpots?

Honestly, I have no idea. I've asked a few times and never got an answer. Now I'm told the roster is full and only includes those that called the office and registered.

Not sure why they'd have a Facebook registration page but not use it.

My best guess is to call the office.

I think I'll show up and if they reject my free labor, I'll go fishing and then come back for the free meal. :cherry:

The roster is full?! Lame. I might just follow Chincy's lead and show up anyway. Worst case scenario, I end up fishing instead of cleaning, which I can live with :D

Nice day , good people. We filled a dump truck full of trash. It's unbelievable what you find. I'm the proud owner of a new push pole that looks like it's been in the water for about a week.
