I haven't launched my kayak to go fishing in almost 2 months and I decided to take a trip to Fort Desto to hit some deep pot holes that hold trout, flounder, and reds.
The total tally for the day was 2 trout and a great day to be out on the water. I did see a few new areas that I want to fish when there is an incoming tide. Who knows, I may catch my first redfish there.
Here is the picture of one of the trout during the fight. I didn't want to touch them so I left them in the water while releasing the fish.

This would be my guess why one wouldn't want to touch a trout..screwballl wrote:can I ask why you did not want to touch them?
Trout are delicate fish and have a protective slime on them. If handled improperly the slime can be
removed which makes them susceptable to disease. So if you don't plan on keeping them, handle with care and a wet hand, never use a towel...a dehooker is recommended.

That is a great catch and release practice. If you can release them at boatside without lifting/touching, they stand a better chance. Or you could just let them get off boatside like I do, but I'm just a natural at losing fish like that and this skill can not be taught!!! Nice trout, Rob!

We have to treat all these fish with care if we expect them to be around. I thought the picture was cool though.
