newbie's first outing

Post by JoseC »

I took out a friend of mine fishing this past thursday. He had wanted to try kayak fishing for a while, but our schedules always conflicted. We finally got a day that we were both off and decided to hit the water for a quick afternoon trip.

We got out on the water and there was not a whole lot of activity out there. We eventually came upon a school of reds, my first cast resulted in a fish on, but immediately after I hook up, two guys in a small boat see that there is a fish on, and pick up and immediately start coming at me, run through the school and stop about 25 feet away!!

It really sucked, I felt like yelling at them but managed to hold my temper and not say anything. On the way back it we came across another school. My friend Johnathan casted his spook and it got whacked by a red.

it started getting dark so we called it a day, he said he had a good time, hopefully I have turned another to the dark side

Glad to see ya back out there. Yea sometimes the moment just does not call for confrontation. Good job on not sounding off.

Nice Reds and way to handle your temper. After all, it's just fishing.

Beautiful reds Jose. Way to get a noob fired up.

As for the hole jumpers... Grrrrr. I know that oftentimes it's prudent to control one's temper. But those idiots sound like they needed some learnin' on fishing manners.

Did you dress him up for his first outing also?

I would have said something to someone so rude. Most of the time guys like that don't know what they did wrong.
