I have about 30 hours into it.
This one is actually a practice piece. I've never carved a bust/mask before and I'm just trying to get the knive strokes down.

Basswood. It's soft and easy to carve. Once I get this one done I'll probably do the next one in Butternut. I have about another weeks worth of carving to do then I'll paint the wolf head dress, the bandana, hair and stain and wax the entire piece. As you see it ,I just misted it with water to show the definition.

Nice carving there. Is that what you do while deadsticking on the jetty?

How did you remove the blood stains?
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley

How did you remove the blood stains?
Luckily I did all the slicing and dicing of my fingers early into the carving. The blood soaked wood has since been carved away. Let me tell you some of the gouges hurt like a motherpucker !!!
