Munyon Island snook report 5-29

Post by palmbeachpete »

It was my last chance for a snook dinner and I had a few hours free in the morning. I put in as the sun was starting to come up at Munyon.

Paddled to my snook spot. Casting a top dog on my first cast I hook up. A small snook comes to the kayak.

I fished with the top dog for a short time more with no luck. There was very little bait in the water so I paddled to the north looking for some action. No bait moving, no birds working. Paddled to the deeper water of the IC but no luck. Paddled back to the spot to work the last of the low tide. I find no bait and no sign of action. I start to blind cast with a MR 17 and BAM, feels like a nice snook. It makes three long runs but dose not jump. 10 minuets into the fight I am thinking maybe it is not a snook. The fish stayed deep. It was giving me a workout on the 10 lb test line. 5 minuets later the snook shows her head. I bring her to the kayak and keep her in the water as I try to take some pics.

I used my feet to keep the snook up for the pics. It looks like 38" with out pinching the tail.

I have to work on my pics, a flash would have helped. I did not want to put the snook in the kayak for a pic. She swam away happy and I paddled in. Off the water my 10 am.
