Big Reds, 5-4 report

Post by paddlefisher »

On and off for the past several months I have been shut out by the big reds, I have been working a particular school of about 100 27"-33" redfish without much luck, but sometimes the spoils go to those who perserve.

Image

Caught this one and two others on a Johnson Sprite gold spoon. I was contenet so I called some of the high school (seniors) guys I work with in Young Life and they came to the spot after school with White Bait in a 14 foot skiff and started hooking up too.

The bite slowed, a local capt. motored in and had his clients casting in our back pocket, he caught nothing while these three high school guys and I had doubles and tripples (Sweet!) You see, we had figured out that the reds were rejecting live bait and opting for shiners ripped in half.

Here is a double

Don't worry, I kept using the spoon, but they outfished me with dead baits.

Nice reds..you really need to photoshop that line of houses in the background.. (now that I've seen them)

Glad to see ya didn't fall to the evil temptation of dead bait.
