Middle keys
My plan was to stay on my moms sail boat and bring the kayak along but now my moms is not staying down in the keys. I graduate from high school tonight june 9th and Im going to leave for the keys tonight after the ceremonies. I wanted to know if anyone wants to get out and fish together or could help me find some fish. Im going to focus on the fish that are common down there tarpon, sharks, barracuda, snapper, grouper, and if I'm lucky a permit or bonefish. Any advice would be great.

Not sure where you are staying, but I have had luck with bonefish on the ocean side flats just north of Holiday Isle as well as between US and the Hawk's Cay resort (Tom's Harbor Channel is what I think it was called).
The bridges will be good and should be holding all sorts of fish.
Congrats on finishing HS.

Bonefish are everywhere, not sure if permit are back from the spawn yet or not. Tarpon have been very difficult lately. You will have no problem catching baby cuda.

Make sure you are sight fishing. The cudas will tear all your stuff up blind casting.

The cudas will tear up hooked bonefish. You'll see a streak out of the corner of your eye and then suddenly your 8 pound bonefish becomes a 3 pound bonefish head.

That sucks about the baracuda! I tied some mirrodines on wire leaders so I can tear them up!

X2 Merrick. Right now is the best time to get your degree, any job you look at requires at least a 4 year degree AND you would be competing against a thousand other people with years of experience. I can't believe the number of jobs that require a degree to get the job, even though the degree is not needed to do the actual work.Rik wrote: Job market sucks, go to college!

I'd go to school for crude oil clean up. Looks like there's 25 years of work close to home.

But it doesn't pay well with no degree.
If you want to get your HAZWOPER certification, I can get you as much work as you want cleaning the beaches. Pays about $13/hr plus about $100 per diem if you travel more than 50 miles to get to the site (currently Pensacola area).

Besides you'll be working for 20 minutes per hour according to OSHA!! Hard work, been there, done that.
