booo ....yay

Post by bonefishwhisperer »

started the day with a smokin permit take and was being towed as usual when the hook came out...had to crank 150yds of line all limp...very sucky...luckily my very next cast was also a bullseye and I played to hand and tagged the 33inch bonefish...

Very nice, I saw one about that size in the Keys last week. I thought it was a shark.

Cordell, are you fishing near the crab traps or have they changed areas and heading south? Just looked at my log from last August and saw them south of Deering. Curious as to just what is the pattern if there is any. I know you work these flats almost everyday and have seen it all.

today they were GONE...went from endless permit to 0..maybe it was a bad day...yesterday I seen them between black point and turkey point...the next 2 weeks I probably cant fish as I have a fairly big electrical job to do....30 A/C units to hookupon a rooftop so I will have to leave them all for you Vivian...last yr I started seeing them more around the burger king university flat area at this time but I think they come and go as they please...I try to stay where there is deep grass and/or lots of crabs and stingrays....I see them following the rays all the time...BTW...the "East boys" that have been using live crabs have got 7 permit this week I believe fishing the same areas as you are familiar with...smallist was 25lbs

Cordell, I'll follow my log from last August and compare. I hear you on the deeper grass areas. BTW: there are also very large snook hiding in those grasses. Sorry you have to work  Next chance I get will be this sunday so will post if anything interesting. Will head out of Blackpoint and head north.

Nice fish!

I'll be in Islamorada chasing bonefish for three days in October.

Drop me an e-mail, maybe I can stop by on the way back and say hello!

Sorry you lost that permit, but that is a sweet bonefish! Not a bad way to salve your wounds.

I fished down near the crab traps last weekend. Didn't see many bonefish and NO permit. Had shots at a few bones, but no takers.
