I went out of the carbide flats in my canoe Thursday and tried catching some reds on a catch 2000, didn't work. I only had one hit it and that was when I was burning it back to the boat, no hook-up. So idecided to try and catch some trout and headed for deeper water. I tied on a jig with a white and chartruse power bait minnow adn a DOA deadly with a 20" leader and a DOA gold shrimp. I ended up catching a little over 20 fish in the next hour but only about a third were in the slot, the rest were dinks. Before I left I caugt a pinfish that was a little smaller than my hand and decided to troll it across the flats on my way back to the truck. When I was 200 yds away from the truck the pinfish got hit. It turned out to be a very,very large trout. I can't tell you exactly how long it was because it shook the hook as I trying to grab it at the side of the boat. What I can tell you is that it was much larger than my best trout which was 26.5". For the first time at this spot i also saw someone else paddlefishing. I only took one picture as i didn't have my camera jsut my waterproof cell phone, so sorry for the terrible quality.
