Has anyone built a wooden fishing kayak/canoe?

Just curious if anyone has built one and had any tips, ideas, or plans. I'm looking for something that's lightweight, stable, has an open design with plenty of room, and long enough to track well. This would be for small freshwater only, so no swells to worry about.

Ideas I've seen:

Not doen it myself, if I could afford it I'd sign up for one of the classes that are offered and build one onsite. Hell I can't even spell, but if I had a woodshop...

Here is another option.. Chesapeake Light Craft, they offer plans, kits, and classes with some nice stuff. I've seen pix of their SUP 14' board that a guy in one of the forums built and uses on the East coast that looks pretty nice. They also have a boat builder forum..

And another.. Pygmy Boats.. offers plans and kits.

And yet another.. Uncle Johns, offers plans, check out the pirogue or bayoo skiff
