More river action (with pics)

Post by Gibby3474 »

Hank and I fished the river on Tuesday and did well, catching about 100 bluegill between us. We also managed three bass and a channel catfish. The fish were going for poppers and Myakka Minnows.

We used 2-, 3-, 4- and 5-weight fly rods. Tippet was 7X monofilament for the poppers and 7X fluorocarbon for the Myakka Minnows.

You had the same thought I did. This is what I found http://talkflyfishing.com/index.php?showtopic=16676

Love the pics and the reports. I haven't use a flyrod in a while, I think I'll have to break it out.

Great pics !! Really like the one of the canoe. What brand & size canoe is it? I just purchased an Old Town Guide 119 just to fish the rivers & prefer it of my yaks for river fishing.

Sorry for the delay n answering but I just found the freshwater section to post in, "DOH" :clown:

That is and Placid boatworks canoe. It is 15 ft long, 24 inch beam and weighs, according to the web site, 24 lbs. But for some reason mine only weighs 18 according to my scales.

Anybody interested in taking up fly fishing oughta give Gibby a shout out as he can cut your learning curve for ya.
Thanks for letting me Paddle-Fish with ya Steve.
