Details: Fished 3 days with Capt. Mecate and Mate Louis on the Agua Azul. Days start at 6:30 - 7:00 am each morning, return approx. 2:30 - 3:00 pm. Mostly Conventional Tackle with the exception of the Black Skipjack (Fly Rod and Spin Cast)

Sunrises leaving the Harbor are magnificent, each morning our exit looked somewhat like this:

In the 3 days we caught 4 Sailfish,

2 nice Dorado,

15 - 20 Black Skipjack (4 - 6 lbs).

Able to release one of the Sailfish, but due to Capt. and Mate's hookup practices and J-hooks, Gill Hooked the others :( . We were able to give away some of the Meat to Lety's Restaurant that prepared portions for us. Capt.'s sell any whole fish that are killed. All Skipjacks were released or used for Marlin Bait, alas no Marlin were ever hooked up.

After fishing relaxing on the Terrace outside our Rooms

with a little "Sight Seeing" ..... Statues are everywhere (it's a Tourista thing)

Did spend 2 days looking for Roosterfish, (Fly Rod and Spin Cast), but Late December/Early January is not the proper time. We did manage a couple Small ones and should have been able to catch many more, but time slips away.

Yep, got a little Mexican Fish Blood on my Paddle-Fishing .com shirt .... gonna have to get another one

Personal Opinion: This trip was great, surprised at the quantity of Canadian/American Snowbirds, number of Shop Keepers that speak excellent English, the Food is great (we tried many different places and all were excellent).
Always ask for the exchange rate before purchase.
I would suggest paying for accommodations with a Credit Card, the exchange rate is much better ($700 US vs $590 US on the Credit Card, same rooms).
Book flight 2-6 months early, prices are definitely better.
Expect to wait in US Customs lines coming back (took us 1 1/2 hours to get thru, 1 1/4 spent in line)
Prices on most stuff are somewhat negotiable, so always say that you will Think about it before Buying.
The Tequila stores will let you sample several types and there are several of these stores to try.
If your down there during the winter look up Brian Saunders at Casa Lobato Pineda, he Guides in Alaska in the Summers, Zihuatanejo in the Winters and specializes in Light Tackle/Fly trips Inshore and Offshore.
Safety is not an issue, although the Police are carrying AR15 Rifles and seem to travel in groups, we never felt uncomfortable anywhere.
Don't go during major Holidays, it is a Tourist Town and everyone's wanting to party, we went for the Fishing!
Wish we could have gotten a Kayak for some of the "Inshore" fishing but costs would be prohibitive .... maybe a Business idea?

We'll be going back!!
