Trip of a lifetime! (Warning- picture heavy!)

Post by MarkM »

Well, last week DaveR, our buddy Joe from NJ, and I all traveled waaay far north to Canada to spend 5 days at a remote wilderness outpost cabin on a lake to fish for walleye and pike. I'll let the pics do the rest of the talking...

Our base camp at Wilderness North (that's our transportation in the back there.)

Ready to go..

First to try the facilities..

Fookin' crocs in canada, eh?

Our first fish fry. Note the shorts, the weather was nice!

Thumbs up!

And great sunsets to boot!

Although we caught probably over 150 pike and walleye, none were trophy size, but the walleye were the best eating fish I've ever had. It was a blast, will definitely go back to do it again.

Edit: I have to give credit to Joe for some of the pics in this post (his are the better ones. :D )

Beautiful pictures Mark. I know you will remember that for the rest of your life. It can be humbling to see so much pristine area like that. 8)
Any problems with the Black flies, or was it too early in the season for them?

Norm- We never broke out the bug spray or nets. No black flies and the only mosquitoes were pretty much wussies.

Redfisher - there were a few times we wished we had kayaks. The lake was fairly small and I'm sure we could have gotten around pretty good in them. There were a few places we found that were too narrow for boats to get through, and the kayaks would have been nice in these spots.

I went to Wilderness North three years ago and stayed at the Strikers Point Lodge, it was full service with three meals a day. I know where DaveR's fingers have been, I would never let that guy near my food.

It was an incredible experience, beautiful country, great fishing and a staff that never let us down.

If you ever thought of doing a trip like this, do it, we had an awesome trip and would do it agian tomorrow if I could.

Cool pics Mark, thanks for sharing.

Man, I've been waiting for this report. Mark.

This --- <<Dave>> has to be one of my favorite all time fishing photos. Priceless.

Great post, thanks. I am heading up there in September, this will be the fourth annual. We fish a smallmouth/pike lake, very few walleyes. Those smallies are right tasty though and they fight like crazy.

Last year I fished in snow for the first time in my life, found some muskie, saw moose, many eagles and at night listened to loons and wolves in the distance. These flyins are a great experience, not to be passed up.
