I haven't been to Cedar Key in maybe 8-10 years, but I'm here now.

What's the best way to fish here --- kayak, boat, guide????

With the low tides this week, you need an airboat. It takes some pretty serious local knowledge to navigate the backcountry on the winter negative lows, even in a kayak. The Hobie might not work so well ;).

If you launch near the public boat ramp and paddle south a quarter mile, there is a large creek that runs back to the east. If you get up inside the creek, you will find a lot of oyster beds, wrecked boats, smaller off-shoots and bayous that hold a lot of decent reds.

The area is no big secret and gets alot of attention in the summer time. But if you hit it after all the tourists go home, it can be decent. Try along the banks. There are some troughs between the oyster beds and the bank that hold fish in the current waiting for something good to eat.
