Fish action was curiously slow. Mullet were present but loafing along the bottom. No jumpers. The wind came on strong and I made it back to shore before noon. Good day on the water bad day fishing.

Launched from Sunset Beach went south. Water was dead no mullet no bait dead. TROLLED A WHITE PADDLE TAIL FOR MILES CAUGHT 1 SMALL RED. On the way back after the tide turned I started to catch trout. One after another same lure chartreuse jig head white paddle tail. All were under size except 1 15 inch trout. There was a comorant that swam beside me trying to steal my fish and chasing the lure. It swam beside and under the kayak with no let up. I paddled like a madman but it stayed on my butt. Every time I stopped it flew in snapping at my fish. I finally had to give up and go in.
