A Little Cow Creek Magic

Post by Manning »

Fishing has kind of sucked lately with the cold wind and cold water. Thought I would try and change my luck with a little Cow Creek magic. I know where there is a deep stretch that is protected from the wind and all that dark copper colored water should also help. About my 3rd cast into the deep dark and the line came tight and the reel stated to sing it's song. Up came a good size snook with a big head shake. Guessing it was upper 20's or low 30's. Another nice run followed by another head shake and the fun was over. She spit the lure. Still a great start and more than I have seen in quite some time. Never hooked another snook all morning. I did manage 3 lower slot trout and way to many ladyfish to count. I have to tell you I actually appreciated the ladyfish given how uneventful most of my recent fishing trips have been. Fun to have something giving me a good fight. Came home with a smile on my face.
Being out on the water in the kayak is the prize. Catching fish is the bonus.
