Was out doing a bit of social boating (read - stinkpot) with my bride on Saturday in Sarasota Bay. As we were drifting off a sand bar, there was a big jack attack. Boiling water, bait trying to fly, birds diving from above. Of course, my silver spoon joined the fray and I hooked up with a 14" jack on my second cast.
Quickly got him off and cast again into the boiling water while trying not to wrap a bird. Got rewarded with a 32 inch redfish. Never expected a red in all that, thought I had a much bigger jack.
Only 3 casts all day and caught 2 fish. This is the first decent red I've caught in Sarasota in over a year.
Of course, I went right back to the same spot on Sunday morning with a buddy and couldn't find anything but lizardfish - and a pinfish that was about 1/16 inch longer then the spoon.
Might just be coming back...

Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley
Your buddy couldn't even manage a lizardfish.
Great fish Rik. I'll put that spot on my destinations article.

Nice fish there Rick. Looks like the exact one that I released last weekend at that spot. Us Sarasota people just keep catching and releasing the same fish over and over. Only a few fish here to catch, just release it quick for the next fellow.
