Made a kayak cart

Post by privatepilot »

I made this easy project in about an hour. Total cost was around $60. Gotta love pvc!

The wheels were the biggest purchase; they were about $30. The pvc and other pieces were another 30. Width is close to 20in.

The axle is a threaded dowel from Lowes

Made similar cart but used all plastic wheels 14" diameter X 2" wide and smooth steel rod axle w/washers & cotter pins. Very light, no rust & easy to roll over curbs, through tall grass & brush. Wheels cost on eBay about 9 bucks each.

I'm looking at building a similar cart, and found some somewhat cheaper lighter plastic wheels and rims at Northerntool...

They look like the same dimension (10" x 3.0"). Might do better at the beach than 2" - depends on "your commute". Cool cart.
